Houston Middle School won fourth-place at the weekend Science Olympiad state competition in Socorro – the top finish houstonfor a public school in the middle school division.

In the meantime, Hobbs High School’s Rushi Mankad and Crystian Massengill won first-place in the high school division’s Anatomy and Physiology category.
Neither HHS nor the Freshman High School – which compete in the same high school category against one another – finished in the top five. But the schools had some individual top-five winners. Below is a list:

    Houston Middle School – Mia Zebas and Kunai Mankad, fourth, Anatomy; Jackson Driskill and Colby Coleman, fourth, Meteorology; Zakaya Benge and Shaye Smith, fifth, Metric Mastery; Caroline Jarrett and Erin Hines, third, Simple Machines; Shaye Smith and Jackson Driskill, fourth, Sounds of Music; Morgan Shaw and Mia Zebas, third, Water Quality.
