Among the after-school enrichment activities offered at Taylor Elementary school on Sept. 29 was some individual instruction for student Miranda Jorgenson from kindergarten teacher Gina Chacon.


The Eagles extended their shutout streak with a 4-0 win over  Carlsbad at home on Sept. 27.


Students From College Lane, Jefferson, Southern Heights and Taylor were on stage on Sept. 24 for a Missoula Children's Theatre production of Peter and Wendy.


Mini-cheerleaders got a chance to learn routines from the experts - HHS cheerleaders - during a cheer camp on Sept. 24.


Taylor fifth-graders spent a week learning dance moves from Maciolek School of Dance instructors, then performed a program for parents and classmates on Sept. 23.

The Lady Eagles soccer and volleyball teams had easy times with their opponents on Sept. 21. The soccer girls mercy-ruled Onate 10-0 while the volleyball team swept Las Cruces.


Students from Coronado, Edison, Mills and Sanger were featured performers in a space-age version of Gulliver's Travels on Sept. 17.


The Eagles ruined Lovington's Homecoming game on Sept. 16 when they mercy-ruled the Wildcats 56-0 at halftime.


Hobbs students got the chance to experience a wide variety of after-school enrichment activities when a federal 21st century learning grant was implemented at middle schools for the first time the week of Sept. 12.


Sanger fifth-graders were among the first HMS students to get a chance to tour the Titanic exhibit at the Western Heritage Museum on Sept. 14.


The Eagles beat Las Cruces 2-1 at home on Sept. 13.

HHS theatre students performed a one-act play on Sept. 12 in observation of the 15th anniversary of the attack on America.

edisonEdison Elementary students observed a moment of silence on Sept. 9 in honor of the Americans who died 15 years earlier on Sept. 11. They then sang the national anthem - accompanying themselves with patriotic projects made in class.


Southern Heights students celebrated Grandparents' Day on Sept. 9 with a Folklorico dance for their elders.


Students from Edison, Will Rogers, Southern Heights, BTW and Coronado were on stage for the Sept. 2 National Dance Institute performance at Tydings Auditorium.


The Eagles lost their Sept. 2 Homecoming game 56-28 to Artesia.


The Sept. 2 Homecoming parade prompted longtime Eagle fans like former HHS secretary Irene Rendon to pull up in a lawn chair and watch the festivities.


Zack Ornelas and Cynthia Jordan were crowned Homecoming King and Queen during homecoming activities on Sept. 2.


The defending state champion boys cross country team started the season with a perfect, first-place finish at the Sept. 1 Lovington meet. In the meantime, Mitzi Madrid finished in second place for the Lady Eagles.
