Hobbs Municipal Schools pays direct costs to Eastern New Mexico University and tuition reimbursement to other universities to teachers who wish to earn their Master’s.


New Mexico schools are part of a 3-tiered licensure system which allows teachers to advance through a salary schedule based on years of experience and education.
  • Level I teachers (BA and zero to 5 years of experience) earn a minimum of $34,000;
  • Level II teachers (BA/MA and more than 3 years of experience) earn a minimum of $44,540; and a
  • Level III (MA or NBCT and six years of experience) earn a minimum of $55,528.
$1,575 Advanced Placement Stipend
$1,050 AP Vertical Team Stipend
$2,625  Bilingual and TESOL Stipend


Up to $2,500 signing Stipend for high needs positions.

60% of HMS students qualify for free and reduced lunch and thus are deemed low income or Title 1 schools, allowing for Teacher Loan Forgiveness application programs.
