Substitute Teachers

I have a Degree, a high school diploma, or equivalent.  How do I become a substitute?

For further clarification on substitute qualifications in NM, please visit the PED website: Substitute Teacher Qualifications

Step 1.  Complete an application online:  Apply Online
Once your application has been approved by Mr. Hawkins, you be contacted by Gay-Dawn Henry with a login access code to the substitute training website.

Step 2.  Complete STEDI's Online Substitute Teacher Training Program
The $39.95 training cost is paid for by Hobbs Municipal Schools, you will use the access code provided by the district.  The training program typically takes about 9 hours to complete.  You have the ability to start and stop the training if needed.  You must receive 80% or higher on your final assessment.

To access STEDI's Online Training Program go to www.STEDI.org and follow the directions on the Hobbs Municipal Schools STEDI Instructions form Gay-Dawn will send you via email.

Step 3. Upon completion and after receiving at least an 80% passing score, and attending the sub in-service, email Gay-Dawn to schedule an appointment to complete the new hire process. This includes fingerprinting, $44.00 and applying for the New Mexico Substitute License, $50.00.
