Hobbs Supt. TJ Parks was named New Mexico School Superintendent of the Year by the New Mexico Coalition of Educational Leaders Association (NMCELA) in July of 2015.
Parks was selected for the honor from among the 88 other superintendents in the state.
He took over as HMS superintendent in the summer of 2010 after serving in other HMS district administrative posts for almost three years. Prior to that, he was superintendent for the Tatum school district for 21 years. Parks also coached and was a high school principal in Tatum.
On hand for the presentation at an Albuquerque awards luncheon were Hobbs School Board President Gary Eidson and School Board Members Joe Calderon and Pat Jones.

HMS Supt. TJ Parks outlined the two rezoning proposals for parents during the first of three meetings on the middle school redistricting subject on Oct. 7, 2010, at Highland Junior High.
